Bamboo Fishing Pole
Nowadays, many a fisherman can be found using one of those fancy side-scan sonar depth finders with the new underwater fish-eye orthographic readouts. But there was a time when one cut a switch of bamboo to do a little cane-pole fishing.  A decent cane pole is as close as the nearest stand of bamboo. Everyday ordinary, backyard bamboo works just fine for panfish, bass, and small catfish. A cane or bamboo, with the line anchored to the pole along its entire length, could land anything that doesn't pull you into the pond first. So there. Drop your line right beside that tree stump. Sit on a bucket. Doesn't that mud feel squishy between your toes? Hey, where's your bobber?
