 Sheriff's Department Jail Cell Padlock
According to the Northern Idaho News, in 1917 Sandpoint started to put on the airs of a true metropolitan city.  Its streets were being paved, its policemen dressed in uniform, and in the future only limited quantities of dynamite or explosives were to be kept in stock in the city limits.  Just a decade before the original county jail (erected in 1901) was upgraded from the original wooden structure to a two story brick building, complete with women’s quarters and living rooms for the sheriff.
The men, and women, charged with the protection of Bonner County over the years, have fought a multitude of crimes - from petty theft and bootlegging to unsolved mysteries and scintillating murders – laying their lives on the line to keep the community safe.
This early, heavy-duty padlock is from the original Bonner County Sheriff's Office.  If only this object could talk, the stories it could share.
