Whitetail Buck
One of three mounted heads that were in the Jennestad Clothing Store in the 1930’s. Ole Jennestad, the founder of Jennestad’s Clothing Store, opened his first shop February 1, 1908. A two column by five inch advertisement in the North Idaho News at the time carried this message, “Gentleman: having just opened, we wish to have you call and inspect our new and up-to-the-minute line of gents’ furnishings, shoes and hats. Our hats and shoes cannot be duplicated anywhere for style, wear and price. Try us.”
Jennestad went on to run a successful clothing store in Sandpoint for over 70 years. In 1974, Sandpoint retail merchants declared Thursday, Feb. 8th as Ole Jennestad Day.
